So, I'm an inconsistent runner. The problem is running in the winter. I hate the cold and hate running in snow and ice. On the morning drive to work I'll see those die-hard runners plowing through drifts ordelicately tip-toeing across patches of snow packed ice. Shaking my head I'll smile and wait for spring to give me the motivation to get out, lace up my shoes, and take off...

For many years I've lived and worked near some of the most spectacular coastal trails in this southwestern corner of the country. I would occasionally plan a day to hike segments here and there, or would escort an out of town visitor to the see the views, but would still miss whole sections. Then I started running....

You want to enjoy a warm and clear day by running outdoors. You wear as little clothing as possible because you enjoy the feel of the sun on your skin. Ironically, while your workout is improving your endurance, circulation and muscle tone, the solar rays are destroying your skin, putting you at risk for skin cancer. You can protect the health of both your skin and body by following a few guidelines.

A new Guiness record was set in the 49th Annual Scotiabank Calgary Marathon this year. Blaine Penny, a local Calgary elite runner, joined togheter with 9 of his friends to set a new Guinness record. MitoCanada was selected as a feature charity for the 2013 event, so the crew came up with a great idea on how to create awarenes for Mitochondrial disease.
